Canadian-born old-time fiddler who lives in Galax, Virginia. She learned from elder source fiddlers including Melvin Wine, Lester McCumbers, and Art Stamper, and won the Clifftop fiddle contest in 2008, the first woman in 19 years to take it. She won old-time fiddle at Mount Airy in 2019, wrote the book Music in the Air Somewhere on West Virginia’s fiddle and song traditions, coordinates Swannanoa Old-Time Week, and tours with her husband, multi-instrumentalist Carl Jones.
